Gemmai is made by Gemviz Inc. (Montréal, Québec). It has three parts: the Gemmai app, a small Gemmai device inside each restaurant, and the restaurants' web pages on gemmai.ai. This policy explains what information each part uses, where it is kept, and your choices.
If you become a Gemmai member, your name, email, optional cell number and your choice about offers are saved only on your iPhone (in the iOS Keychain; if you use iCloud Keychain, Apple carries it to your new iPhone). Your profile is never sent to Gemviz servers.
When you tap "Share" at a restaurant, your profile is sent by Bluetooth to that restaurant's Gemmai device and kept there, so the restaurant can welcome you back. Each restaurant keeps only what you shared with it; restaurants cannot see each other's guests. The restaurant keeps your information until you ask it to remove it.
For each restaurant, the app creates a random number that is different at every restaurant, so restaurants cannot link your visits together. If you never tap Share, the restaurant's device keeps only this anonymous number and deletes it automatically 10 hours after your last activity.
To confirm your email address, our server sends you a 6-digit code. The server uses your email only to send that message and does not keep your email address or the code (it keeps only a one-way, unreadable counter to stop abuse).
If a restaurant is full, you can join its waitlist by scanning the QR code in its window. You give the number of people, an optional nickname, your email and your cell. We email you a 6-digit code to confirm your email. Your email is used only to send you that code and to tell you when your table is ready; your cell is shown only to the restaurant staff so they can call you. Both are stored encrypted on gemmai.ai and are deleted automatically as soon as you are seated, removed from the line or leave it, and in any case after 12 hours at most. They are never used for anything else, never shared and never sold. Online orders (pick-up) work the same way: you give a pick-up name, your email (confirmed with a 6-digit code) and your cell. The restaurant calls you to take payment; no card number is ever entered on the website. Your email and cell are stored encrypted and deleted automatically when the order is picked up, declined or cancelled, and in any case after 24 hours. The restaurant keeps the dishes and totals of the order, without your email or cell.
A restaurant may send you offers only if you turned on the separate, optional "offers" choice and shared your profile with that restaurant. You can change this choice in the app at any time and ask the restaurant to stop.
Restaurant names, logos, menus and photos are public information and are kept on gemmai.ai. The restaurant pages do not use tracking cookies. The restaurant owner's admin area uses a login cookie and a language cookie only.
Gemmai does not use your location, does not use analytics or advertising tools, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell or rent personal information.
You can delete your profile in the app at any time; this removes it from your phone. To have a restaurant remove the copy you shared with it, ask that restaurant directly, or write to us and we will help you reach it.

gemmai.ai
